Salvation Army Buffalo helps families find toys for the holidays

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Salvation Army’s Toy Shoppe helps families receive gifts for their loved ones during the holidays for free. It’s a tradition that’s been going on for decades.

“I’m impressed on how generous the people from the City of Buffalo and Western New York are and how many toys we get every year,” said Fran Holmes, who has been helping with the Toy Shoppe with the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary since 2013. “It’s just astonishing how much we have and how appreciative our clients are.”

Thousands of toys will be going to families in need within the next few days.

“I have ten kids and this helps us tremendously,” said Jasmine Sommerville from Buffalo, who had triplets ten months ago. “This actually helps our family out because it’s a lot of us and it’s just me sometimes, it’s me and dad trying to do the best we can for our kids, so this Christmas, just helps a lot.”…
