Mayor Elect Ryan officially submits letter of resignation to New York State Senate

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Mayor Elect Sean Ryan announced Tuesday that he sent his letter of resignation to New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins.

Mayor Elect Ryan, who served in the New York State Assembly from 2011 to 2019, will officially step down from the New York State Senate on December 31 at 11:59 p.m.

“From Buffalo and Grand Island to Tonawanda and Amherst, it has been an honor to serve the people of Western New York and be their voice in Albany. Each of the communities I represented has its own character, challenges, and strengths, and I am grateful for the trust my constituents placed in me to advocate on their behalf. As I prepare to begin a new chapter in public service, I want to thank the residents of the 61st District and all the communities I have represented for their support, encouragement, and honest feedback over the years. I am proud of the work we have done together to move our region forward, and I look forward to continuing that work as mayor of the City of Buffalo”…
