BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A wind gust recorded at the Buffalo Airport just after 11 a.m. Monday hit 79 miles per hour, approaching a Buffalo record.
The gust was recorded by the National Weather Service at 11:05 a.m.
The Buffalo record, according to media reports, is 82 miles per hour, which was reportedly recorded during a storm on Feb. 16, 1967. A gust of 81 miles per hour was recorded Aug. 24, 1972. Monday’s storm was forecasted to bring wind gusts up to and around 75 miles per hour, but the numbers have ended up being higher than that…
