Esquilin demoted from lieutenant to detective sergeant for role in Granville incident

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Discipline has been handed down to Buffalo police officers who responded to the controversial series of hit-and-run crashes involving Erie County Sheriff’s narcotics chief DJ Granville.

Those crashes resulted in Granville pleading guilty in August to reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident after he totaled a work vehicle but originally escaped criminal charges until a 2 On Your Side investigation revealed the incident.
