Winter Storm Warning Extended In Western New York

The winter weather is expected to continue today for parts of Western New York, with more lake effect snow expected to bring several more inches of snow.

Winter Storm Warning Extended In Western New York

There is a Winter Storm Warning in place for Wyoming, Chautauqua. Cattaraugus and Southern Erie counties today, now until 10 pm. Originally, the warning was set to expire at 1 am this morning, then it was pushed back to 10 am, and now the National Weather Service in Buffalo has extended the warning until 10 pm tonight.

Most of the new snow will be in the Southern Tier and in ski country, but there could be an additional 3-5 inches of snow across the southern part of Western New York. Travel could also be impacted by the weather. Wind gusts could cause white-out conditions along roadways, and deep snow along the road could really slow things down.

Lake effect snow will continue to weaken tonight. Snowfall rates off of Lake Erie will be minimal, while rates off of Lake Ontario will diminish from 2-4 inches per hour to 1-2 inches per hour by Saturday morning. pic.twitter.com/EGhJV4QFLk…
