WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Police records obtained by News 4 Investigates state that the off-duty Cheektowaga officer who fatally struck a teenager walking home on Dec. 18 told investigators he turned toward the backseat of his truck to check on his whimpering dog moments before the crash and had no time to react when he noticed something about five feet in front of his truck.
“He pulled over and realized that it was a person in the roadway who he had struck,” according to the accident report. The crash happened at around 9:30 p.m. on Clinton Street in West Seneca.
