Gusty winds, colder temperatures and a return to lake effect snow

One more day of mild January temperatures remains, before another wave of gusty winds blow through the Western New York region and usher in a return to more seasonal temperatures and the likelihood of snow.

A Wind Advisory is now posted for most of WNY, including the Buffalo metro area, from Saturday evening through early Sunday afternoon.

“We’re looking for southwest winds to increase off of Lake Erie,” National Weather Service meteorologist Dave Thomas tells WBEN. “We’re looking for gusts up to 50 mph right along the Lake Erie shoreline, and then inland, across the Niagara Frontier.”…
