BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Lackawanna man was sentenced after he participated in the kidnapping of his daughter in a scheme to marry her off, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.
Khaled Abughanem, 53, flew to Mexico to kidnap the victim on Sept. 8, 2021. His son and the victim’s brother, Adham Abughanem, went with him.
The pair transported the victim from Western New York to Egypt to Yemen and held her there for 16 months. They kept her in Yemen to force her into a marriage she did not want to be in, officials said…
