Buffalo mayor to ban city workers, police from helping ICE with ‘civil immigration enforcement’

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — While details remain limited, WIVB News 4 can confirm that Buffalo Mayor Sean Ryan is planning to sign an executive order soon that will prohibit city workers and police from participating in “civil immigration enforcement.”

The Mayor’s Office shared with News 4 that Ryan will soon be announcing an executive order to “ensure that the City of Buffalo will not participate in civil immigration enforcement.”

“We don’t want people to fear interacting with city government,” Mayor Ryan said in a statement provided to News 4. “Or to fear calling the police because they are afraid it will result in a call to immigration officials.”…
