Buffalo Board of Education to meet Wednesday after school closure plans halted

The next meeting of the Buffalo Public Schools Board of Education meeting is set for this Wednesday, but there has been no word yet on an alternative plan for “right-sizing” in the district.

The meeting comes as two schools were originally planned to close at the end of this school year. However, the board announced early this month that the decision was overturned based on feedback from staff, families and students.

The school board came up with a four-year “right-sizing” plan last year. The plan seeks to maintain fund balances as the school board said it will run out of money in the next four years without structured deficits totaling more than $200 million. That includes an $83 million deficit for the upcoming school year…
