‘Mardi Graski’ event in Cheektowaga

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Western New Yorkers kicked off pre-Lenten celebrations on Sunday at ‘Mardi Graski 5’ in Cheektowaga.

The event featured the music and food of both Mardi Gras and Paczki Day, and over 200 people participated in the event.

“It’s really a celebration of music and culture,” said Tod Kniazuk, director of The Big Easy in Buffalo. “Because if you think about whether it’s Polish culture or New Orleans culture, yeah, it’s music, but it’s food and it’s what you drink and it’s how you celebrate life. And that’s always been a part of what The Big Easy in Buffalo tries to do and that’s definitely what we’re doing here today.”
