19-year-old accused of stabbing grandmother to death in Tonawanda

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 19-year-old is accused of stabbing his grandmother to death at a home on Parkhurst Boulevard in Tonawanda on Monday, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.

Miguel Castro, Jr. allegedly stabbed his 57-year-old grandmother, identified as Anna Moore of Tonawanda, on the 1100 block of Parkhurst around noon on Monday. The woman died at the scene. Prosecutors said that three children were in the home at the time of the killing.

Castro was charged with second-degree murder, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned Monday afternoon and is being held without bail.

If convicted, Castro faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison. He is scheduled to return to court on Thursday.
