Amherst Police Detective pleads guilty to misdemeanor to resolve federal charges

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Amherst Police detective Gregory Trotter pleaded guilty on Wednesday in US District Court to a misdemeanor count of impeding or interfering with a federal officer.

In a courtroom packed with supporters, including several Amherst Police officers, Trotter admitted to “scaring” an FBI agent.

The plea resolves the case brought by the government against Trotter in 2023 in which he was accused of a felony charge of lying to federal agents about his relationship with former Pharaoh’s strip club owner Peter Gerace. Gerace was later convicted of drug and sex trafficking charges and currently awaits sentencing…
