Buffalo DPW speaks on this year’s ice-breaking operations

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — With the warmer temperatures this week, ice-breaking operations were underway in the City of Buffalo.

“At the end of the day, you’re dealing with Mother Nature, so she pretty much dictates when you have to react,” said Don Poleto, Senior Operations Engineer for the City of Buffalo Department of Public Works.

Poleto said they saw Monday’s forecast, with rain and warm temperatures coming, and knew the creek ice was going to be active…
