It looks like March is set to come in like a lion in Western New York. Above- average weather is expected to move into the 716 this week, and if one local meteorologist is right, we could set a new record high.
Major Warmup Set For Western New York
While we will start with some cold and snowy weather in Western New York, things will warm up starting on Wednesday with some above-average temperatures expected across the 716.
On average, the high in early March in Buffalo is around 43 degrees. We are expected to have temperatures in the 50s on Wednesday, with warmer weather expected through the weekend. The National Weather Service in Buffalo is calling for temperatures in the 50s for Western New York to wrap up the weekend.
Record Warmth Possible Next Sunday
If you follow Channel 2 meteorologist Patrick Hammer, you might of been shocked to see his forecast for the upcoming weekend. This Sunday, he is calling for a high near 77, which would set the current daily high record for March 8th.
The current record high for March 8th is 66 degrees, which was set just a couple of years ago in 2024.
