Narcotics chief D.J. Granville to retire, enter private sector

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Erie County Sheriff’s Chief of Narcotics Daniel “D.J.” Granville is leaving his job with the county and plans to retire on March 27, his attorney confirmed to WIVB News 4 on Wednesday.

Terrence M. Connors, Granville’s attorney, said that Granville is moving into the private sector.

In April 2024, Granville crashed into several cars on Buffalo’s West Side in a county car and caused over $60,000 in damage. He pleaded guilty to reckless driving as well as leaving the scene of a property damage incident in August 2025, and was suspended without pay for 30 days and ordered to perform community service.
