AMHERST, NY — A fire caused by arcing electrical wires early Saturday morning damaged property behind several homes in Amherst.
The fire happened on Palmdale Drive near Maple Road. According to the Main-Transit Fire Department, its firefighters were called to the scene around 5:06 a.m. and encountered live power lines burning on the ground and a fence on fire.
Crews worked from a distance until power was shut off, preventing further spread to nearby homes. Officials estimated the damage at $25,000, and no injuries were reported…
