Another Buffalo cop cited for misconduct

Investigation by state attorney general faults officer’s propensity for body cavity searches. He’s the ninth Buffalo cop who the AG has faulted.

Buffalo Police Officer Calvis McKnight six years ago “engaged in a pattern of unlawful manual body cavity searches” of drivers pulled over for traffic and vehicle infractions, according to an investigation released last month by the state attorney general.

In short, McKnight demonstrated a propensity for snapping on rubber gloves, pulling down a suspect’s pants and inserting his fingers into the suspect’s anus. He performed these searches out in the street, in view of other officers and civilian witnesses — one of whom described the subject screaming for McKnight to stop.

He did so without warrants or probable cause, investigators concluded, and without producing any contraband as a result of the illegal searches…
