Amazon is adopting a new strategy to simplify its structure, which is leading to layoffs. According to The Country Herald, the layoffs mark one of the region’s largest recent workforce reductions.
The WARN notice filed with New York State shows that Amazon will close its sortation center at 4201 Walden Avenue on May 30, 2026. The facility currently serves as a key node in Amazon’s regional logistics network. The closure is expected to impact not only Lancaster but also surrounding communities.
