ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Two people from Buffalo have been arrested following a high speed chase in Orchard Park last week.
Police say Mikiel Gates, 23, and Ernest Edwards, 19, were each charged with:
- Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree
- Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd Degree
- Criminal Mischief 4th Degree
- Resisting Arrest
- Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree
- Criminal Nuisance 2nd Degree
- Reckless Driving
- 30 additional vehicle and traffic violations
According to the Orchard Park Police Department, on March 20, around 5:30 p.m., officers pulled over a Nissan Rogue after it allegedly failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Big Tree Road and South Taylor Road. Officers say as they attempted to approach the vehicle, it took off at a high rate of speed.
Investigators say the vehicle allegedly attempted to enter Route 219 northbound in the wrong direction via the Milestrip Road off-ramp, where it crashed head-on into a Toyota Tundra, ending the pursuit. The driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries…
