BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — An Irish man wanted on felony assault charges in Rhode Island was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents after crossing the Niagara River to illegally enter the United States from Canada with three others, officials announced Tuesday.
Authorities responded to investigative reports of illegal entry on March 15, when border patrol agents saw an individual on a rubber raft in the Niagara River. Agents identified others on the raft, including a Mexican man, the Irish man, a woman from the United Kingdom and their child hidden behind a tree.
Officials said all four individuals crossed the Niagara River from Canada. A Mexican man with no criminal record operated the raft, according to agents. He is charged with human smuggling, unlawful entry into the U.S. and child endangerment…
