CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — A longstanding Buffalo tradition returned this weekend as local cooks competed in the annual Buffalo’s Best Kielbasa contest, an event that draws large crowds eager to taste and judge homemade recipes while celebrating Polish heritage ahead of Easter.
The competition, which has been held for more than a decade, invites participants to showcase their homemade kielbasa across several categories. Organizers say the event not only fuels friendly competition but also honors family traditions passed down through generations.
A total of 27 entries competed in categories such as fresh and smoked traditional, fresh and smoked holiday, and non-traditional kielbasa. The event attracted a significant turnout, with attendees coming out “not just to taste, but to compete.”…
