Hamburg residents frustrated by flooding

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — After Tuesday’s storms moved through Western New York, some Hamburg residents are once again dealing with a problem they say never really went away.

Residents on Sharon Avenue say storm cleanup is becoming routine with homes flooding frequently after heavy rain. One resident said she’s spent more than $10,000 on repairs and that neighbors raised concerns with the village board two years ago. They were promised a drainage study, but nothing has been fixed and the problem continues.

“I don’t know what else to do,” said Hamburg resident Judy Hosie. “I mean, I’m retired. I can’t afford all this stuff that I’m paying for and I don’t know what else to do in here. It was flooding so bad, all the houses on here, it was coming in along the walls, just bubbling up.”…
