Mayor Ryan response to Assembly Majority leader; confirms $700M budget, scales back bonding request

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Mayor Sean Ryan is responding to letter filed by Assembly Majority Leader Crystal Peoples-Stokes that was critical of his request to borrow money through the Buffalo Fiscal Stability Authority.

The Majority Leader confirmed with 2 On Your Side that she would not support legislation that allowed the city to borrow through the BFSA, unless it triggered a hard control status.

Mayor Ryan initially suggested the city would borrow as much as $500M over the next four years, not only to offset the need to sell city-owned parking ramps, but also other capital bonding that has been held up in litigation with the city Comptroller…
