New cremation complex unveiled at Mount Calvary Cemetery

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Cheektowaga cemetery opened up a new cremation complex, giving families another option in letting their loved ones rest.

Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cheektowaga held a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday for what is called a “Cremation Niche Complex.” It will be made of glass and will be located next to the bell tower near Harlem Road.

“In New York State, cremation is about 65% of all deaths, and so we wanted to make a larger commitment to those who wanted to honor family members and have them have a place of permanence for their family,” Douglas Wasiura, president and CEO of Mount Calvary Cemetery, said.
