Buffalo City Council prepares for budget workshop sessions with specific questions on Mayor Ryan’s new budget plan

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The budget plan for the City of Buffalo under Mayor Sean Ryan is now front and center for City Council members to start their specific review of the numbers.

City Council began their detailed analysis of the $681 million budget that Mayor Ryan has proposed, and what they were doing Thursday was asking department heads a series of specific detailed questions. They are seeking the answers in workshops that wiil be held in the coming days.

Police and fire overtime is still a major cost issue for the council members with the acknowledged need for adequate emergency services, but also some scrutiny of how it can really add up up under current union contracts and projected budgeting versus actual eventual totals for that overtime…
