BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A $21 million settlement is pending in Erie County for the wrongful conviction case of a “Buffalo Five” member, WIVB News 4 confirmed Tuesday.
John Walker spent 21 years behind bars for a murder he was wrongfully convicted of in 1976 on the East Side of Buffalo. He was charged when he was 16 years old along with Darryl Boyd, Darryn Gibson, Floyd Martin and Tyrone Woodruff — who were also teenagers at the time.
The charges against Boyd and Walker were thrown out in 2021 after both men had already spent decades in prison. Boyd died in February 2025…
