Spring struggles to take hold as first weekend in May unfolds

Spring-like weather is struggling to take hold on this first weekend of May across the Buffalo-Niagara region, with unsettled conditions and unseasonably cooler temperatures in the forecast.

After a frosty start in spots across Western New York, the coldest night of this cool spell still looks to be Saturday night, National Weather Service forecasters say. Overnight lows early Sunday will potentially fall into the lower 30’s in many areas, and to the upper 20’s across the higher terrain.

Daytime highs Saturday will remain in the mid to upper 40’s, with the chance for some scattered afternoon showers.

A rebound, of sorts, will take hold beginning Sunday, with daytime highs bouncing back into the mid to upper 50’s in many areas Sunday and to the mid-upper 60’s Monday…
