BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — More than 1,000 students from 16 different schools participated in a musical theater workshop at Shea’s Buffalo Theatre on Monday.
Junior Theatre Celebration is a free musical theater program that helps young performers refine their skills with tips from professionals. The students are currently involved in their own school musical productions, and they received personalized feedback to help improve choreography, vocal performance, and overall stage presence.
“It makes a big difference that they’re performing with so many other young people, because theater can be a little bit isolated,” Timothy Allen McDonald, founder and CEO of Itheatrics and the Junior Theater Festival Worldwide, said. “So for them to see what other young people are doing in their programs, they learn from that, they also get to make friends; they’ll connect on social media and it just forms bonds that I think is really important for young people.”
