BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Chapel in Cheektowaga celebrated Serve Day this weekend, bringing volunteers from local churches together with leaders to make a difference in the community.
Volunteers assisted with clean-up efforts at three separate stations for the event, including in Town Park. Cheektowaga Town Supervisor Brian Nowak spoke about the benefits of the event and why taking part in local volunteering can feel so rewarding.
“I think the best thing about volunteering is having people working together for a common cause and doing something to better their community,” Nowak said. “That alone is worth the reward, but everybody else that comes through the park now is going to be able to reap the rewards of all the good work that’s happening here today.”…
