Empire State Development reports that the new Highmark Stadium project in Orchard Park has exceeded all minority and women-owned business jobsite goals.
According to officials, nearly 140 MWBE firms have been awarded 304 contracts throughout the stadium’s development process, including 83 local businesses, which received 216 contracts.
“Local minority-and women-owned businesses have been the backbone of this project, ensuring the magnificent new Highmark Stadium rises to meet the coming Bills season,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement. “This unprecedented participation by MWBE firms isn’t just about building a stadium, it’s about building generational wealth and setting a gold standard for inclusive public-private partnerships across New York state.”…
