This Woman Used a Fake $53,382 Check to Buy a 2024 Jeep Wrangler, Then Police Showed Up

A Florida vehicle fraud investigation began after a dealership said it delivered a 2024 Jeep Wrangler to a woman who paid with a check for more than $53,000, only for that check to later come back as fraudulent.

Bodycam footage channel NYDETECTIVE reported that officers were dispatched to a residence on February 13, 2026, after receiving a report involving vehicle fraud. According to the channel’s narration, the case started when a dealership employee contacted law enforcement and explained that a Jeep had been sold over the phone, delivered to a meeting location, and handed over after paperwork was signed.

The dealership employee told the responding officer that the buyer provided a check for the vehicle, but the payment later failed. The dealership was then trying to recover the Jeep and determine whether the matter should be handled as fraud, theft, or both.
