Showers and storms are once again expected across the Gulf Coast Thursday night. A few downpours could lead to ponding and some localized flooding
The severe weather risk remains low; however, a couple of strong thunderstorms are possible. Cloud-to-ground lightning and gusty winds are possible within stronger storms.
Activity will begin to subside through the night, and mostly dry weather is forecast through the night. Overnight lows will remain mild and in the upper 70s.
Friday will essentially be a repeat of the last few days. Afternoon highs will top off in the lower to mid-90s, with heat index values in the triple digits. Instability, ocean breezes, and ample moisture will help to keep rain chances elevated through the weekend.
For our country’s 250th birthday on Saturday, rain could impact your outdoor plans. Southerly flow will continue to pump warm and slightly unstable air across the region, leading to elevated rain coverage. Unlike the last few days, some rain is possible even before the noon hour, as an onshore breeze could escort some rain over our coastal sections.
