With the City of Fort Myers still buzzing from our celebration marking America’s 250th anniversary, I can’t help but smile, recalling the excitement and civic pride as our community came together over two days to mark both our nation’s historic revolution and our city’s ongoing evolution.
Downtown came alive with patriotic events, live music, Americana arts and crafts and a spectacular fireworks and drone show that illuminated the Caloosahatchee River.
As a veteran myself, I was moved by the dedication of the city’s All Veterans Memorial at Centennial Park. Given that the country’s Revolutionary War produced its original veterans, the Independence Day commemoration was especially fitting.
