PORT CHARLOTTE — The Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County announced Wednesday it is temporarily halting public dog intakes and adoptions for 14 days due to an outbreak of parvovirus.
Parvo is a highly contagious canine disease that targets white blood cells and the gastrointestinal tract. Common symptoms include lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea and fever.
