Charlotte Behavioral Health Care (CBHC) has announced the appointment of Amy Hood, LMHC, as its new chief executive officer. Hood previously served as the organization’s chief operating officer and succeeds longtime CEO Victoria Scanlon, LMHC, who retired after nearly two decades of leadership.
Hood brings more than 25 years of experience in behavioral health and substance use treatment, having served in both clinical and executive leadership roles across community, outpatient, inpatient and correctional behavioral health settings. Her leadership is grounded in firsthand clinical experience and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals and families experiencing mental health and substance use disorders.
During her tenure as COO, Hood led several initiatives that expanded access to behavioral health care throughout Charlotte County. She oversaw the expansion of the organization’s Central Receiving Facility (CRF) to increase substance use treatment capacity following the closure of Riverside Behavioral Health. She also helped strengthen the local crisis continuum by expanding the IRIS partnership with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office to include peer support specialists and case managers, launching Hospital Bridge Services, expanding the Family Support Team for at-risk youth and families, and adding Veterans Court to the organization’s specialty court programs…
