Surprise your loved one with a singing Valentine

PORT CHARLOTTE — Each February, quartets from the Suncoast Statesmen Barbershop Chorus will deliver a singing Valentine to your loved ones at their homes, business, schools, restaurants and more in Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Englewood and surrounding communities.

Chapter President Jim “Curly” Wilson spoke about the group.

“Our 2023 Valentine’s Day weekend was a huge success for our four quartets. Due North, Border X-Sing, Seems Like Old Times and the five-member singing group called The Pentagons who delivered 37 singing valentines to residents (both men and women) in our local areas.”

Wilson said the groups love performing.

“Having the opportunity to provide a quartet to sing two love songs and present a rose and a box of chocolates for a unique singing valentine at their home or workplace was such a delight,” he said.

“Border X-Sing” originally formed in 2012, has raised more than $10,000 delivering singing valentines. A large percentage of the money have been awarded to support the Neil Plum Youth Music Scholarships to deserving seniors from Charlotte High School and/or Port Charlotte High School, according to a news release.
