CAPE CORAL, Florida — Two teenagers were arrested following a vehicle burglary and subsequent chase in Cape Coral late Friday night, according to the Cape Coral Police Department. Officers responded to a report of a vehicle burglary in progress near NE 20th Street.
A citizen reported seeing two males checking door handles on vehicles and provided a description of the suspect vehicle, a black Audi A4. An officer spotted the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop in the 1800 block of NE 23rd Street, but the vehicle fled. Both occupants exited and fled on foot in opposite directions.
With assistance from the K9 unit, the driver, identified as 19-year-old Xavier Ryan Scott, of Cape Coral, Florida, was located and detained near a canal. Scott did not possess a valid driver’s license, and the vehicle was unregistered. He was arrested and charged with burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, fleeing and eluding police, resisting an officer without violence, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and driving with a suspended or revoked license…
