Faulty headlights led to arrest, detention of shark attack ‘hero,’ report says

A traffic stop on an SUV driving without headlights led to the arrest of a man who helped save a 9-year-old girl from a shark attack.

He’s now held on a federal immigration detainer.

Luis Omar Alvarez, 31, of Fort Myers, faces one count of driving without a valid driver’s license. He has been in Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention at the Collier County Jail since his June 15 first court appearance…
