PUNTA GORDA — David Ruitenberg is scared of heights, but not afraid to jump out of an airplane.
It wasn’t always like that for the owner of Skydive SW Florida Club at the Shell Creek Airport in Punta Gorda.
“My daughter called and asked me to skydive and I said no, I am afraid of heights,” Ruitenberg said. “She called the next week and said she was going to go by herself. I didn’t want that, so I went with her. I jumped. And the rest is history. I quit my job and changed professions. If you had asked me years ago if this is what I would be doing, I would have said you are crazy.”…
