Cape Coral police target illegal gambling operations in major crackdown

CAPE CORAL, Florida — The Cape Coral Police Department, in partnership with the Florida Gaming Commission, executed a significant operation against illegal gambling casinos in Cape Coral. This operation, one of the largest of its kind in Southwest Florida, involved serving seven search warrants at various locations.

The coordinated effort targeted six casinos and one residence, uncovering operations that preyed on vulnerable populations, particularly elderly residents with gambling addictions. Preliminary findings indicated that the illegal machines were rigged to ensure patrons consistently lost, further exploiting those at risk. Additionally, evidence suggested these establishments were involved in narcotics trafficking, according to a press release from the Cape Coral Police Department.
