For the first time in nearly a decade, homeownership in the United States has dipped year-over-year, albeit just slightly.
New data from the Census Bureau and analysis by the real estate brokerage and technology firm Redfin show the major U.S. metro areas where residents are most and least able to purchase homes.
Florida cities made both the top and bottom 10. Miami has the ninth-lowest rate of homeownership of the country’s 75 largest metropolitan areas. Roughly 58% of Miamians own their homes, down from 63% a year ago.
