After the floods: Saving historic buildings

PUNTA GORDA — Preserving historic homes in Punta Gorda, the future the A.C. Freeman House, and establishing a preservation fund are on the agenda for the City Council’s joint meeting with the city’s Historic Preservation Advisory Board.

At the 5 p.m. meeting Tuesday, the Punta Gorda City Council and the advisory board members will discuss certain ongoing issues that impact the historic neighborhood.

One question for both boards is if the city add an additional one half-mill tax levy to help with storm repairs for historically designated structures?…
