Fort Myers, FL – A Fort Myers woman has been charged after allegedly leaving two dogs to die in her backyard while she was away in Miami, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Carmine Marceno called the case “pure cruelty,” stating that detectives and the Animal Cruelty Task Force worked for months to secure justice for the animals. “No living being should be treated like this,” Marceno said.
According to investigators, deputies were called to a home on Ninth Avenue in Pine Manor in March 2025, where they found two deceased dogs locked in crates with empty food and water bowls.
