It’s been a year since Big John left downtown Cape Coral. But the big guy might be coming home soon — just in time for Christmas.
Repairs are almost done on the smiling, grocery-toting statue — a popular South Cape landmark — after the 28-foot-tall Big John was badly damaged by Hurricane Ian in 2022.
“I want him home for the holidays,” says Clint Strand, who’s been working on repairing the statue since November 2024. “We need him done. We need to put him back up … for the city and the people to enjoy.”…
