CANTERBURY — Mark D. Thompson, a Canterbury man who was shot and killed at a cabin in New York state, was remembered in his obituary as a loving husband, father and grandfather, a man of “loud and boisterous humor” who will be missed by all who knew him.
Thompson, 70, was killed along with his brother, David E. Thompson, 69, of Port Charlotte, Fla., on Nov. 23 at a family cabin in Allen, N.Y., New York State Police said. The victims’ brother, Scot D. Thompson, 65, of Englewood, Fla., was arrested soon after the killings and charged with two counts each of second-degree murder and first-degree criminal use of a firearm.
Troopers were called to a home on Botsford Hollow Road around 10:05 p.m. for a reported disturbance and found the two older Thompson brothers dead, according to state police. The small town of Allen, which is named after Ethan Allen, has a population of about 500 in southwestern New York…
