20-year-old charged after hitting 133 mph on highway in Fort Myers: FHP

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WFLA) — The Florida Highway Patrol arrested a 20-year-old Fort Myers man on Saturday night after a state trooper clocked him going nearly double the speed limit on Interstate 75.

It happened at around 7:45 p.m. on the northbound lanes of I-75, where the speed limit is 70 mph.

Abraham Arredondo, 20, was driving an Infiniti Q50 when he hit 133 mph and was pulled over by a trooper.

He was arrested and taken to the Lee County Jail, where he was charged with violating Florida’s Dangerous Excessive Speed Law, also called the Super Speeder law, that was passed earlier this year.

The law increases penalties for drivers who exceed the posted speed limit by 50 mph or more, or drive 100 mph or more. The punishment for a first-time offence is up to 30 days’ imprisonment or a $500 fine…
