PORT CHARLOTTE — Human rights advocate Myrna Charry said she must speak up for those who are silenced.
“I don’t agree with how (Big Cypress Detention Center) Alligator Alcatraz was haphazardly created and is run,” she said. “The state expects every other county to go through the correct and legal process to build something, including a detention center, but the state can bypass everything to open one to detain immigrants and that’s not right.”
