Next-generation, highly specialized heart failure care is now available close to home. Lee Health has opened a new Advanced Heart Failure Center at the Lee Health Heart Institute at HealthPark Medical Center, bringing cutting-edge cardiac treatment to Southwest Florida patients who previously may have needed to leave the region for care.
Heart failure affects more than six million Americans, and an estimated 10% are living with advanced heart failure, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. For these patients, standard therapies are no longer effective, symptoms are severe, and care requires a highly specialized, multidisciplinary approach.
Patients who otherwise must have travelled to other specialized centers in the region can now be seen locally, including those who require advanced therapies such as infusion of inotropes, and recipients of left-ventricular assist devices and heart transplant, as well as those with rare cardiac conditions, like cardiac amyloidosis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, or cardiac sarcoidosis…
