ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The FGCU men’s golf team will travel to St. Simons Island, Georgia to compete in The Johnnie-O at Sea Island on March 9–10. The Eagles will be represented by Nolan Harper, Sacha Ruiz, Sebastian Gamboa, Brett Moore, and Christian Figueredo, while Tom Scullion will compete as an individual.
The tournament will take place at the Sea Island Resort – Plantation Course, a par 72, 7,060-yard layout. Teams participating in the event include No. 45 Cincinnati, Georgia Southern, No. 42 Kansas, Kennesaw State, Memphis, NC State, Nebraska, No. 23 Notre Dame, Penn State, Princeton, Rutgers (host) UNC Greensboro, and No. 44 West Virginia. The two-day event will feature 54 holes of competition.
The last time out for the Eagles was at the Gators Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., where FGCU finished 11th overall out of 18 teams at 22-over par at the Mark Bostick Golf Course. Nolan Harper led the way for the Eagles, finishing tied for 12th at 1-under par for the tournament. After steady play through the opening two rounds, Harper delivered one of the lowest rounds of the day in the final round, firing a 3-under 67 that featured consistent ball-striking and key birdies on both nines to climb the leaderboard…
